Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook pasta according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes until al dente.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions with a pinch of salt and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Continue caramelizing onions for 15-20 minutes until deep golden brown. Add water as needed to keep them moist.
  4. Add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain pasta. Set aside.
  6. Combine sun-dried tomatoes, balsamic glaze, tamari, and a splash of pasta water into the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Mix drained pasta with sauce in the skillet, adding reserved pasta water for desired creaminess.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with red pepper flakes or fresh herbs, if desired.
