  • 1 large Yellow Onion Adds sweetness and depth through caramelization.
  • 2 lbs Shaved Steak Ribeye works best; thinly sliced leftover beef roast can also be used.
  • 1 tablespoon Salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Optional seasoning; adjust based on preference.
Topping
  • 1 lb Provolone Cheese Substitute with mozzarella or cheddar for different flavors.
Serving
  • 6 pieces Hoagie Rolls French rolls are a great alternative.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add about 2 tablespoons of oil.
  2. Slice the yellow onion into half rings and sauté for 8–10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add 2 lbs of shaved steak, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Return caramelized onions to the skillet, mix, and add slices of provolone cheese, covering the skillet for 2–3 minutes to melt.
  5. Toast the hoagie rolls for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Assemble the sandwich by spooning the steak and onion mixture into each toasted roll and serve hot.
