Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and grease a 9"x13" baking dish.

- In a bowl, whisk together flour, oats, baking soda, and salt.

- Cream together butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl.

- Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and combine until crumbly.

- In a saucepan, combine dates, sugar, and water, and cook on low until thick.

- Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the greased baking pan.

- Spread the date filling over the crust in the baking pan.

- Crumble the remaining mixture over the date filling and press down lightly.

- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and edges pull away from the pan.

- Let cool for 15 minutes, then slice into bars.
