Dough Preparation
- Activate the yeast by sprinkling over warmed milk and letting it sit until foamy.
- Mix dough ingredients, starting with yeast mixture and adding other ingredients to form a thick batter.
- Add salt and nutmeg, then gradually incorporate remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on low speed until it becomes smooth and elastic, around 5 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour.
Filling & Baking
- Prepare the filling by combining sugar, lemon zest, butter, and lemon juice into a creamy mixture.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it.
- Roll the dough tightly, cut into 12 sections, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Let the rolls rise again for 1 hour until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
Glaze Preparation
- Prepare the glaze by beating cream cheese and lemon juice, then adding powdered sugar and milk for consistency.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and garnish with lemon zest before serving.
