Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast ensure it’s fresh
  • ½ cup warm milk about 100°F
  • ¼ cup salted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 lemon zest fresh is best
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour adjust as necessary
  • ½ teaspoon salt for balance
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg optional
For the Sticky Lemon Filling
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 lemons zest fresh
  • ¼ cup salted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
For the Lemon Cream Cheese Glaze
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk adjust for consistency

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. Activate the yeast by sprinkling over warmed milk and letting it sit until foamy.
  2. Mix dough ingredients, starting with yeast mixture and adding other ingredients to form a thick batter.
  3. Add salt and nutmeg, then gradually incorporate remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on low speed until it becomes smooth and elastic, around 5 minutes.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour.
Filling & Baking
  1. Prepare the filling by combining sugar, lemon zest, butter, and lemon juice into a creamy mixture.
  2. Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it.
  3. Roll the dough tightly, cut into 12 sections, and place in a greased baking dish.
  4. Let the rolls rise again for 1 hour until puffy.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
Glaze Preparation
  1. Prepare the glaze by beating cream cheese and lemon juice, then adding powdered sugar and milk for consistency.
  2. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and garnish with lemon zest before serving.
