Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 3 pounds Chuck Roast The star of the show; this cut becomes incredibly tender through slow cooking.
  • 2 tablespoons Dried Minced Onion Adds a deep, savory flavor; fresh onions are fine but may change cook times.
  • 2 tablespoons Montreal Steak Seasoning Packs a delicious punch; can be swapped for a mix of garlic powder and black pepper.
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce Infuses umami goodness; soy sauce works in a pinch, but flavors will vary.
  • 1/4 cup Arby's Sauce The key flavor that brings nostalgia; substitute with spicy BBQ sauce if needed.
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Sauce Provides a creamy texture; use shredded cheddar for a different take.
For the Sandwiches
  • 6 pieces Onion Rolls These serve as a delightful base; any favorite bun or slider is a perfect alternative.

Equipment

  • slow cooker

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Begin by placing your chuck roast at the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Evenly sprinkle the dried minced onion and Montreal steak seasoning over the surface of the chuck roast.
  3. Pour the Worcestershire sauce and Arby's sauce generously over the seasoned roast.
  4. Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours.
  5. Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred the beef.
  6. While you’re shredding the beef, warm the cheddar cheese sauce in the microwave.
  7. To serve, pile the warm, shredded beef onto the soft onion rolls and drizzle with warm cheddar cheese sauce.

Notes

It's best to assemble the sandwiches just before serving to keep the onion rolls soft and prevent sogginess from the beef and cheese sauce.
