Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add 3 thinly sliced onions, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and pepper; cook undisturbed for about 5 minutes.
  3. Continue for 15 minutes, then add 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and thyme; cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out puff pastry on a floured surface; cut into rectangles or circles.
  5. Place pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet; spoon caramelized onions on top and crumble goat cheese.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, checking every 2 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes on a wire rack before serving warm.
