Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by cleaning the mushrooms under cool running water, gently scrubbing to remove dirt. Pat them dry with a paper towel, then slice into uniform pieces, about a quarter-inch thick.
  2. In a large skillet, heat over medium until warm, then add 2 tablespoons of butter. Allow to melt completely, stirring occasionally until it begins to bubble.
  3. Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir gently, allowing them to absorb the buttery garlic flavor and cook for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Gently stir to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Transfer the Cowboy Mushrooms to a serving dish and serve warm.
