Step-by-Step Instructions for Hibachi Steak
  1. Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat and sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add remaining vegetable oil and sesame oil. Sauté mushrooms and onions for 4-5 minutes, then add zucchini and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Push vegetables to the side, melt butter in the empty space, and sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds.
  4. Whisk together soy sauce, mirin, and honey in a bowl, then pour into the skillet and let thicken.
  5. Return steak to skillet, combine with vegetables and sauce. Allow to simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Plate the dish, garnishing with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.
