  • 12 tablespoons Vlasic Dill Pickle Relish Adds a sweet and tangy flavor; substitute if needed.
  • 12 tablespoons Capers Minced; optional to omit if unavailable.
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Minced Onion Adds savory depth.
  • 2 teaspoons Milk No substitution recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Parsley Flakes Substitute with fresh parsley if desired.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon Juice Fresh lemon is preferred for better flavor.
  • 1/8 teaspoon Granulated Sugar Can be skipped for a less sweet taste.
For the Sandwich
  • 6 pieces White Hamburger Style Buns Any soft white or whole wheat buns will work.
  • 6 pieces Van de Kamp Breaded Fish Provides crispiness and flavor.
  • 6 slices American Cheese Cheddar or a dairy-free alternative can replace it.

Equipment

  • medium bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • microwave

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, minced capers, dried minced onion, milk, parsley flakes, lemon juice, and sugar. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until smooth, then refrigerate for at least one hour.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange the fish fillets on a baking sheet and bake for the recommended time. About two minutes before they finish, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.
  3. Steam the hamburger buns by placing them in a plastic bag with a damp paper towel and microwaving for 30 seconds.
  4. Assemble the sandwich by taking the bottom half of each steamed bun, adding a fish filet with melted cheese, a spoonful of tartar sauce, and topping it with the top bun.
  5. Serve the sandwiches immediately while warm, pairing with your favorite side.
