Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt along with your chosen spices.
  3. In an electric mixer, combine the softened butter with pumpkin puree and blend until well mixed. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla, continuing until smooth.
  4. Alternately add the dry mixture and milk to the wet mixture, mixing until no flour streaks remain.
  5. For the crumb topping, blend cold butter, flour, and light brown sugar until coarse crumbs form.
  6. Layer half of the cake batter in the prepared dish, sprinkle with half of the crumb topping, then add the remaining batter and top with the remaining crumbs.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.
