Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced green bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until tender.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
- Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan. Layer with provolone cheese slices, sautéed vegetables, then top with remaining meat mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Add more provolone on top in the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
- Slice the meatloaf and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve with your choice of sides.
