  • 1/2 cup sour cream no substitutions necessary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or substitute with fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder fresh onion can be used
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
Mix-ins
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese freshly grated
  • 1/2 cup bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup jalapenos finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions can be omitted or replaced
Coating Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup extra cheddar cheese for rolling on the outside
  • 1/4 cup reserved bacon for topping
  • 1/4 cup jalapeno pieces diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually add in the sharp cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, jalapenos, and green onions. Mix until just combined.
  3. Spoon the cheese mixture onto plastic wrap and shape it into a ball. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  4. Before serving, unwrap and roll the cheese ball in additional cheddar cheese, reserved bacon, diced jalapenos, and green onions.
  5. Serve with crackers or vegetable dippers.
