  • 1 lb Ground Beef (or Shaved Steak) Substitute with thinly sliced ribeye for a more authentic flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil Can substitute with vegetable oil.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential seasoning; adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground is preferred.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can be a substitute.
For the Veggies
  • 1 medium Onion Yellow or sweet onions are ideal.
  • 1 cup Green Bell Peppers Feel free to mix colors for a flavor balance.
  • 1 cup Red Bell Peppers Adds color and crunch.
  • 8 oz White Mushrooms Other mushrooms can be substituted.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced garlic for the best results.
For the Creamy Base
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Neufchâtel cheese can work as a lighter substitute.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Vegetable broth can replace it for a vegetarian version.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Provolone or a cheese blend is also acceptable.
  • 1 cup Shredded Provolone Cheese Can substitute with white American cheese.
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano Italian seasoning can be an alternative.
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Parsley For garnish, adding freshness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet set over medium heat, add olive oil and warm it up. Add ground beef or shaved steak, breaking it apart and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onions, diced green and red bell peppers, and sliced white mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 5-6 minutes until softened, then stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the mixture, then add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and mix in cream cheese, stirring continuously until melted and incorporated.
  6. Spread the beef and veggie mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Layer shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses on top, then sprinkle dried oregano.
  7. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until bubbling and golden. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
