  • 1 Onion Chopped; yellow or white preferred.
  • 2 Garlic cloves Minced; fresh or garlic powder.
  • 4 medium Potatoes Thinly sliced; Yukon Gold or sweet potatoes.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Can substitute with Monterey Jack.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Optional but recommended.
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning Or use favorite individual herbs.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Smoked paprika is an alternative.
  • to taste Salt Adjust for personal preference.
  • to taste Pepper Adjust for personal preference.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Can substitute with vegetable broth.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Optional for creaminess.
  • to taste Fresh Parsley Optional garnish.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef, cooking until browned (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until onions are translucent (3-4 minutes).
  4. Spread the beef mixture in the greased baking dish and layer thinly sliced potatoes over the top. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Top with shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese. Pour beef broth around the edges of the dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden and potatoes are tender.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
