  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda Optional
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher Salt Essential for brining
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning Can substitute with a mix of paprika, celery salt, black pepper, and cayenne
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Fresh is preferred
  • 2 stalks Celery, diced Can substitute with cucumber
  • 1/2 cup Red Onion, diced Green onion can also be used
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Dill, chopped Can substitute with parsley or tarragon
For the Dressing
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard Yellow mustard can substitute
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt is a lighter alternative
  • 1 teaspoon Celery Seed Optional if unavailable

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Brine the shrimp by combining it with baking soda, kosher salt, and Old Bay seasoning. Let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with ice water.
  3. Bring 8 cups of water and juice of one lemon to a boil. Cook the marinated shrimp for about 90 seconds.
  4. Transfer the cooked shrimp to the ice bath and chill for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Mix the dressing by combining diced celery, red onion, dill, mayonnaise, Old Bay seasoning, celery seed, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, kosher salt, and pepper.
  6. Fold the chilled shrimp into the dressing mixture.
  7. Chill the salad in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
