Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice the large yellow onion into thick rounds. Drizzle olive oil over the onion slices and sprinkle with brown sugar and Creole seasoning. Sauté on medium-low heat for about 10 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with Creole seasoning and mix well. Divide into portions and shape into thin patties.
  3. Increase skillet heat to medium-high. Cook patties for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and add American cheese on top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  4. Mix mayonnaise, relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, and spices in a bowl until smooth. Adjust seasoning as desired.
  5. Assemble the burger starting with caramelized onions, then a cheesy beef patty, followed by the sauce, and another slice of caramelized onion on top.
