- In a small bowl, combine 1 packet of active dry yeast with 1 teaspoon of sugar and ¾ cup of warm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Make a well in the center and add ¼ cup of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and mix.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions, rolling each into a ball and flattening them into ovals.
- Cook each naan in a greased skillet over medium-high heat for 1 minute per side until golden brown.
- Mix 3 cloves of minced garlic with 4 tablespoons of melted butter. Brush this garlic butter over each naan after cooking.
