Ingredients
  

For the Pasta
  • 1 pasta shape pasta
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 medium onion, chopped adds sweetness
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced brings aroma
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes forms sauce base
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil for herbal flavor
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano adds earthiness
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes for heat
For the Creaminess
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream for rich texture
  • 1 cup vegetable broth chicken broth works too
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated melts into sauce
For Seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
For the Garnish
  • Fresh Basil Leaves optional but recommended

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat for about 1 minute until shimmering.
  2. Add one medium chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in 3 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute.
  4. Pour in one 14.5-ounce can of diced tomatoes and mix well; simmer for about 2 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon each of dried basil and oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, season with salt and black pepper.
  6. Pour in 1 cup of vegetable broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Place the pasta into the sauce and cover; cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Once the pasta is tender, reduce heat to low and stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
  9. Remove from heat and fold in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
