Cooking Steps
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat for about 1 minute until shimmering.
- Add one medium chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Stir in 3 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute.
- Pour in one 14.5-ounce can of diced tomatoes and mix well; simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon each of dried basil and oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, season with salt and black pepper.
- Pour in 1 cup of vegetable broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Place the pasta into the sauce and cover; cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the pasta is tender, reduce heat to low and stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
- Remove from heat and fold in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
