Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your mini waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions to a medium setting.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine one egg with garlic powder if desired, then add in shredded cheddar cheese and mix well.
  3. Pour half of the chaffle mixture onto the center of the preheated waffle maker and close the lid, cooking for about 4 minutes.
  4. Remove the first chaffle and pour the remaining chaffle mixture into the waffle maker, cooking for another 4 minutes.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt.
  6. Place one of the chaffles in the skillet, layer on a slice of American cheese, and top with the second chaffle.
  7. Cook for about 1 minute on one side before flipping and grill the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
  8. Once grilled to perfection, slice the chaffle sandwich in half and serve hot.
