  • 1 medium Onion Roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning Adjust according to heat preference
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil For sautéing
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Water or Broth Using broth is recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley
  • 2 leaves Bay Leaves Remove before serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional

Cooking Steps
  1. Begin by washing the fresh okra and slicing it into bite-sized pieces; set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, then cook for about 6 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced okra and chopped onions, cover and cook for about 20 minutes until tender.
  4. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, ground ginger, cumin, and dried basil. Pour in water or broth and stir well.
  5. Lower heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  6. Reintroduce cooked shrimp, stir gently, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes before serving.
