- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large baking dish, combine the chopped onion, diced carrots, chopped celery, wild rice, and chicken broth. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour, salt, and poultry seasoning, then gradually add the milk until smooth and thickened.
- If using, melt the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter and toss the cubed bread to coat.
- After the rice is cooked, stir in the chicken pieces and creamy sauce until well combined. Sprinkle buttered bread cubes on top.
- Increase the oven temperature to 450°F (232°C). Bake uncovered for 20-30 minutes until the chicken is cooked and the bread cubes are golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving, garnish and enjoy.
